We are very excited to announce our Christmas show… and it’s a good one.
Open to ages 5½ to 18
A Christmas production performed at BUZZ Theatre – Woking.
Big characters. Big songs. Sharp suits. Splurge guns.
It’s bold, it’s funny and it’s going to be a brilliant way to end the year.
If your child would like to be part of it, here’s everything you need to know.
Auditions
Audition Deadline: Sunday 27 September
No scary panels. No pressure. Just preparation and personality.
Most children who audition have never done anything like this before – and that’s absolutely fine.
Not sure? Feeling nervous? Completely normal...
What to prepare:

We are not looking for perfection. We are looking for willingness, preparation and personality.
If your child is interested, encourage them to have a go. We would much rather see an audition than miss the chance to consider them.

We’re unlikely to need everyone for the full day, every week. These dates reflect the maximum you may be called for. Detailed call sheets will be sent out so you’ll know exactly when your child is needed.
Shalford will become our slightly chaotic, very creative hub for the show.
We know Christmas shows can feel like a big commitment. We always aim to balance high performance standards with a supportive and fun rehearsal process.
Please check these dates carefully before auditioning. Full attendance is important. If a cast member misses more than one rehearsal, including for prior commitments, their role may be reassigned.
Learning Lines

Properly learnt. Confidently learnt. Not “almost there”.
Scripts are included in the show fee and are yours to keep.

Attendance at both technical rehearsals, the dress rehearsal and performances is compulsory.
Show Fee
Putting on a fully staged musical in a professional theatre involves venue hire, licensing, costumes, props, tech and a lot of behind-the-scenes work.
The show fee is £150.
If your child already attends our weekly workshops, the reduced fee is £75.

The only additional cost is audience tickets.
To help support the production, we ask each family to aim to sell at least 10 tickets. We’ll provide posters, flyers and digital artwork to make this easy.

Casting
Our aim is simple: to put on a fantastic show that children feel proud to be part of.
We cast to make sure every performer is placed where they can succeed and contribute to the overall production. You can indicate role preferences on your form, but we can’t guarantee specific parts or numbers or lines.

Frequently Asked Questions (Quick Answers)
Do I have to audition to be in the show?
Yes. Everyone who wants a role needs to send a pre-recorded audition so we can see where they fit best.
What should my child do if they’re nervous about auditioning?
That’s completely normal. We’re looking for effort, personality and willingness to try – not perfection.
What format should the audition recording be?
Most phones are absolutely fine. Please film landscape (phone turned sideways). Please name your video file using this format: FirstnameSurname_BugsyAudition. Example: AlexSmith_BugsyAudition. Most audition videos are around 2–4 minutes long.
What if my child gets stuck learning lines?
Encourage little and often practice. If they are really struggling, please let us know early so we can help.
Are roles guaranteed?
Yes, everyone who auditions will be offered a role.
Can I request a specific part?
Yes, you can note preferences on the audition booking form, but we can’t promise specific roles or line numbers.
What happens if a rehearsal is missed?
Please let us know if your child is unwell as soon as possible. Missing more than one rehearsal, including for prior commitments, may mean we need to adjust casting to ensure the show runs smoothly.
