Emergency Evacuation Procedure
At The Man In The Moon, we prioritise the safety and well-being of children and crew members. While we strive to remain open, there are circumstances where emergency closure may be necessary to ensure everyone's safety.

Reasons for Emergency Closure
Emergency closure may occur due to:

-
Serious weather conditions.
-
Heating system failure.
-
Burst water pipes.
-
Fire or bomb scare/explosion.
-
Death of an adult or child.
-
Assault on an adult or child.
-
Serious accident or illness.
Emergency Procedures
In the event of an emergency requiring closure, the following steps will be taken:

-
Contact Emergency Services: A crew member will contact emergency services if necessary.
-
Evacuation: All children will be escorted safely from the building to the assembly point using the nearest safe exit.
-
Safety First: No attempt will be made to collect personal belongings or re-enter the building after evacuation.
-
Register and Contact Details: A nominated crew member will:
-
Retrieve the register, including emergency contact details, if it can be done safely.
-
Close all accessible doors and windows before leaving, if safe to do so.
-
-
Accountability: The register will be used to account for all children and crew members. If anyone is missing from the register, emergency services will be informed immediately.
-
Parent/Carer Notification: We will contact parents/carers to collect their children. If the register is unavailable, we will use the emergency contacts list kept off-site.
-
Supervision: Children will be supervised until they are safely collected by their parents/carers.
-
Communication with Ofsted: If closure occurs, temporary or otherwise, or if we operate from alternative premises due to the emergency, we will notify Ofsted promptly.
