This is a really new project for us. We'll try to keep to these dates and times, but they may be subject to change.

* We may not need to use the Standby Day if everything goes well on the Recording Day.

We're really sad that our summer production of E. Nesbit's The Railway Children at The Stoke Park Railway in Guildford has been postponed until next year. We've been thinking about something we could do in-between times, and we think we've come up with a solution - an online version!

Rehearsals and Commitment

Children will need to be available on all four of the dates above. There will be a schedule so that children with smaller roles won't be hanging around online all day. There may be some waiting around, but we'll try to keep it to a minimum.

Everyone will be sent a script and will need to practice their lines so that they can read them confidently, clearly and with the appropriate expression for the scenes. They will need to put in enough practice at home so that they don't look like they're just reading a script on the recording day. The online performances will need to be polished and engaging.

Everyone will be offered their original roles. Children who don't want to, or are unable to take part will still keep their roles for the production next year. Roles that are not filled for the online performance will be offered to existing cast members for this online performance. We may need to extend the invitation to other workshop members, depending on suitability.

By it's very nature, some children will have more to do than others. We will work hard to include the ensemble roles as much as possible. We are going to rework the script and there will be some additional narration that won't be in the production next summer.

We'd like everyone involved, but completely understand if that's not possible.

How Will It Be Recorded?

We will be recording the performances via Zoom (or a similar platform) which will be edited in post-production. Children will need to be in a quiet space with a neutral white or cream background. They will need to be able to hold their camera still (preferably fixed) and frame themselves properly following the instruction given.

Children will need to wear a smart, plain black T-shirt (we are unable to provide this).

Your participation indicates consent to your child being included in the online stream.

How Will It Be Screened?

We plan to screen this either on Facebook Live or YouTube. Will will ask viewers to donate a pay-what-you-can ticket price. Donations will help us through this difficult period.

Anything Else?

We think we've covered most questions here, but if there's something we've missed, just drop us an email - we're more than happy to help.
